Mussel Farm Tour in the Bay of Kotor

All About Mussels – A Local Food Experience

The Bay of Kotor is known for its dramatic scenery, but it’s also home to a long tradition of mussel farming. Small family-run farms have been part of life here for generations, and this tour offers a simple way to experience that local side of the bay.

We depart from Kotor and cruise across the calm waters by speedboat. The ride itself is one of the highlights, passing old stone villages, quiet waterfront homes and the historic town of Perast, with mountains rising straight from the sea.

Our first stop is the island of Our Lady of the Rocks, one of the most iconic places in Montenegro. After a short visit, we continue towards a traditional mussel farm located in a peaceful part of the bay.

Here, you’ll have time to relax by the water and enjoy freshly prepared mussels served with a glass of local wine. It’s an easy and authentic experience — no crowds, no rush, just good food and beautiful surroundings.

This tour is ideal for travelers who want:

  • a short and relaxed activity

  • local food and wine

Tour Itinerary

Meet your skipper near the Port of Kotor and take a short walk to the nearby park where the speedboat is waiting. After a quick introduction and safety briefing, we set off on a scenic ride across the Bay of Kotor.

Our first stop is the island of Our Lady of the Rocks. You’ll have time to explore, take photos and enjoy views of one of the most iconic spots in the bay.

From there, we continue by boat towards a traditional mussel farm located in a quieter part of the bay. This is where the pace slows down and the experience becomes more local.

At the farm, freshly prepared mussels are served with a glass of local wine. There’s time to relax by the water, enjoy the scenery and take photos.

In the summer months, we usually make a short swim stop before heading back. After some time at the farm, we cruise back across the bay and return to Kotor, finishing a relaxed and authentic experience on the water.
